Dolebury Camp Hillfort, Somerset

Dolebury Camp hillfort (sometimes known as Dolebury Warren) is an Iron Age hillfort, bivallate on three sides (East, North, West) with a single line of lesser defences to the South, at the top of a steep slope. The original entrance is thought to be in the Westernmost side. The ramparts define an interior of roughly 20 acres, and contains a number of pillow mounds (medieval rabbit warrens). These overlie a pre-Medieval field system.

Stray finds from over the years include Roman and Saxon coins, Roman pottery, possible Bronze Age pottery and a bronze spear head in the Eastern Ditch. The remains of an earthwork at Dinghurst may well be an outlier of Dolebury Camp.
